Tanya Hurtado

Associate Director
Family Office Services

Tanya joined Abacus in 1998 and was appointed Senior Manager in 2011 for the Family Services Section.


During her time with the firm Tanya has worked with many high-net worth clients in the field of trust and company administration, in particular dealing with private clients. This has included setting up and managing company and trust structures for wealth management, tax and succession planning and purposes. Tanya has also been closely involved in promoting and developing the firm’s services.

For several years now, Tanya has lead a team which provides Family Office facilities to ultra-high net worth individuals, involving a wide range of services based on complex structures, which may include limited companies, private trust companies and purpose trusts. She also continues to advise generally in relation to the setting up and management of private corporate structures.

Tanya graduated in Leeds Metropolitan University obtaining a B.Sc in Psychology. She became a member of the Institute of Financial Services in 2000 and is a Trust and Estate Practitioner.

Joanne Rodriguez

Associate Director
Business Development

Joanne joined Abacus as a Manager in 2014 and was promoted to Senior Manager in July 2016.


Joanne is currently responsible for the Business Development. She previously managed the trust portfolio and investment holding companies held under these structures. She undertook an extensive review of these investment portfolios and worked closely with regulated IFA’s and private banks to proactively seek enhanced investment solutions, and monitor investment performance on an ongoing basis.

Having graduated from Cardiff University with a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Business Administration and French in 2001, she has 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry, 8 of which were spent working as a Financial Adviser for Lloyds Bank in the UK. In 2006 she was approved by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) to perform a controlled function as a trainee Investment Adviser and, after intensive training was awarded Competent Adviser Status in line with FSA requirements in 2007.

Relocating back to Gibraltar in 2013, she joined Totus Consulting Limited, and took the opportunity to extend her financial knowledge to the offshore financial services industry, including QROPS, QNUPS, international pensions and offshore life bonds, amongst other products and international structures.

Joanne is full qualified to UK RDR standards, having successfully completed the Level 4 diploma of Financial Advisers in 2011. Although not acting in an advisory capacity in this role at Abacus, it does mean she is well placed to understand the technical aspects of pension and investment advice, application and administration. She can add value to the supervision and review of the financial advice procured and will be a member of the Investment Committee, assisting the trustees and the pension team in the competent and successful delivery of this pension service.

Joanne has also obtained the Chartered Insurance Institute Pensions Administration exame.

Natalie Adamberry

Associate Director

Natalie joined Abacus as an Assistant Manager in October 2011 and has developed throughout her time with the company to become Senior Manager of the Client accounting team.


Natalie is responsible for ensuring that accounts for the Abacus portfolio of clients, which include multinational corporations, private clients, Trusts and Funds registered in various jurisdictions, are prepared in accordance with the relevant law and accounting standards and that relevant statutory and tax reporting deadlines in each jurisdiction are met.

Natalie moved to Gibraltar from the UK in August 2004, where she obtained a B.A (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance from Kingston University. Prior to joining Abacus, Natalie spent seven years working in the audit department of a top four practice firm where she became a full member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Melissa Victory Peñalver

Associate Director

Melissa joined Abacus in April 2000 and has recently been appointed Senior Manager of the firm’s corporate and private Russian clients.


Over the years Melissa has gained from her exposure to different service areas within Abacus. During her initial years of employment she was dedicated to our Private Client team, assisting clients who are resident throughout the Iberian Peninsula. The following 13 years she continued to be a key member of the Private Wealth Team, servicing Central and Eastern European clients under the management of Christopher Pitaluga and Tanya Hurtado. She has recently returned from a career break taken to start her own family and is now applying her expertise and know-how to corporate and private Russian clients under the directorship of Adrian Mansfield.

Julian Pitaluga

Senior Manager

Julian is a Chartered Accountant and joined Abacus in 2013. He was promoted to Manager of the Accounts team in July 2016. His experience in the funds sector is invaluable.

Brenda Dominicy

In-house Legal Counsel

Brenda is our in-house lawyer, providing legal services to the firm and advising the firm on a wide range of company and trust matters, corporate restructuring, contract and employment law, as well as on regulatory issues, Brenda joined the firm in 2005.


Brenda is enrolled as a Barrister and acting Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Gibraltar, is a member of Honourable Society of the Inner Temple and is also a member of Gibraltar’s HM Prison Supervisory Board.

Philip Cartwright

Senior Manager

Philip initially joined Abacus in June 2015 as a consultant to assist the compliance team.

In March 2016, Philip became Manager for the Private Client team, specialising in property holding structures for high net worth individuals across a variety of jurisdictions.

Chris Russell

IT Manager

Chris joined Abacus in 2016 and is the firm’s in-house IT specialist. Chris is a very experienced IT professional with 20 years of experience in this field.


Since joining the firm he is responsible for the overall running of the IT infrastructure, systems and IT policy. He also considers how new and existing technologies can benefit the firm and increase efficiency and productivity.

Erica Power

Senior Manager

The Pensions department became an integral part of Abacus Financial Services Limited in January 2016, when Erica was taken on to set up and manage the QROPS department.
Erica works closely with our Business partners and will ensure correct processes are implemented to grow and maintain the service levels to our Scheme members and Business partners alike.
